Exploring and Discovering Basic Electricity Concepts

Before School Program:

The power had failed one day for few minutes, and it was dark in the room. The children asked for the flashlight and started to talk about what would happen if we didn't have electricity all day. I asked them what we could do, then they talked about how the electricity works and also asked how it is produced.

We have a discovery kit for electricity, so I put all the materials on the table for the children to use to  build a circuit that could create the highest light possible.

First the children read a booklet to find out how to connect the parts and build the circuit.

They examined all the components of the kit and identified them

They built the circuit and tested it

But it didn't work so it was time to find the problem and solve it!

They worked together, found the problem and solved it and...It worked!😊😊

The purpose of the activity was to introduce simple circuits and examine how batteries, when connected differently, provide a different voltage output.
