Cooking Club Cucumber Sushi

Today we made sushi for cooking club.  Yes, sushi.  Well, sort of.

Ms. Shila found a child friendly recipe involving cucumber and cooked rice with a few extra veggies.  As soon as we said the word "sushi" we were met with A LOT of resistance, but we encourged them to make it and at least try a little bit.

Turns out, sushi was a hit!  Almost everyone asked for more and a copy of the recipe, which you can find in your parent pockets.

Eating is always so much more fun when you get to play with your food.

November 28th Inservice Day

With the weather we had this morning, it was a great day for pajamas and movies.

Ms. Shuang planned a day full of activities for our children including foosball, hair salon and even a Pokemon scavenger hunt in the morning.

The children were a little bit too excited about the scavenger hunt so as it goes in Pokemon hunting we weren't able to catch 'em all.

After lunch we settled in with our popcorn and watched Finding Dory.

I think we picked a good day to stay inside and keep cozy.

Recycled materials

Today we had a large shipment of new supplies for the children, and supplies means boxes, and boxes mean time to get creative. And that's exactly what we did.

We ended up with helmets, masks, swords and a car. We even ended up using a few of those supplies that came in the boxes.

It was a fun and busy afternoon.

Cooking Club

We had our first cooking club on Tuesday and we made everyone's favorite, chocolate chip cookies!  We adapted a recipe that was brought in by Audrey and needless to say, it was a hit with our junior bakers.

Unfortunately the cookies were eaten too fast for us to get any pictures of the finished product, but I guess that means they were good.  You can find a copy of the recipe in your parent pocket.

The Outdoor Challenge Fall Edition

Today we ventured back to St. Vital Park to continue our commitment to participating in the Outdoor Challenge in every season.  We were met with wind, rain and cold but they don't call it a challenge for nothing.

While some children chose to stay by the fire to warm up.

Others headed to the playground to get moving and keep warm.

A group of children decided to work on building a shelter in the forest by using large sticks and logs.

One child even stopped to rescue a helpless worm from a puddle.

It was without a doubt another successful Outdoor Challenge.
