Our centre has incorporated elements of the Reggio Emilia Approach. We have observed and documented the children’s interest, skill, work, ideas and understanding of learning. We provide children with materials and encourage them to come up with their own projects.
Provocation and Invitation are the elements of Reggio Emilia Philosophy. Provocations are experiences to set-up in response to children’s interests and ideas to provide hands-on exploration for children to practice, test, construct and deconstruct their ideas and theories.
Ms Karamjeet set up an Invitation 'Can you build a Lego city?' to invite the children to explore, investigate and manipulate different materials based on the children's interest in the Lego table.
During the Invitation, we observed that some children were interested in building different structures and towers so based on that observation of the children's interest and skills, Ms Karamjeet set up a provocation for the children to build some of the world's famous monuments.
